The Nigerian Police To Carry Out Drug Urine Tests On Personnel - Arase

Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase

The Nigerian police force will henceforth carry out snap urine tests on all its personnel for signs of drug abuse before they are issued lethal weapons or at their operational points.
This was disclosed by the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase on Wednesday, April 6th, in Abuja during the launch of drug testing and campaign against sudden death of police officers organised in collaboration with Hypertension and Diabetes Awareness Foundation.

Arase stated that apart from denying access to firearms or retrieving guns from officers who fail such drug tests, the police would provide appropriate help to wean them from drugs or other emotional or psychological issues that may trigger fatal outcomes in their line of duty.
