Abiola Akinlonu
Police in Lagos arraigned a car dealer, Abiola Akinlonu, before an Igbosere Magistrate court on Monday for alleged conversion of N5m into personal use.
Akinlonu was arrested in January 2016 by operatives of the Special Fraud Unit in Ikoyi, Lagos, for reportedly defrauding a neighbour, Ikena Ezeoka, of the said sum.
Ezeoka was said to have approached Akinlonu sometime in 2013 that he needed two vehicles, a ford explorer and a range rover.
Ezeoka paid Akinlonu N5m for the cars but the defendant disappeared with the money without supplying the cars as agreed.
Efforts to locate his whereabout were futile until January 19 when the SFU operatives to whom the matter was reported, caught up with him at his new abode in Opebi, Ikeja.
