“In fact, it is an irony that we do not have sufficient gas to fire our power plants up to 7,000MW, yet in energy industry circles, Nigeria is described as more of a gas territory than an oil territory” Osinbajo.
This gloomy news emanated from the stables of the Vice-President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo at the NAEE/International Association for Energy Economics Annual International Conference in Abuja.
Does it mean we shouldn't expect decent power supply anytime soon?
Does it mean no one is willing to invest in gas extraction to make it readily available again? This sadly reiterates the fact that Nigeria is indeed a nation of contrasts, sitting on bitumen reserves yet untarred roads, sitting on gas reserves, yet no power.
Sigh!
