Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Blames Jonathan's Govt For Nigeria's Economic Challenges

Okonjo-Iweala and former President Jonathan

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the former Minister of Finance and Coordinating matters for the Nigerian Economy under the immediate past President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has blamed the administration under which she served as being responsible for the current economic woes being suffered by the country.

Iweala said the Jonathan's administration lacked the political will to effectively manage the country's resources and that this was responsible for the economic downturn of the country now being governed by Muhammadu Buhari.

She said this whilst speaking at George Washington University, on the topic "Inequality, Growth and Resilience", on Thursday. Iweala compared her time with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Jonathan and concluded that while there was a political will to save for the raining day under Obasanjo, the will was lacking under Jonathan.

Iweala said the government was able to save $22 billion during Obasanjo's era because the political will to do it was there.
