Nigeria: Fayose Writes China, Don't Give Buhari Any Loan

Governor Ayodele Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose has written to the Chinese government asking for the stoppage of the $2 billion loan being sought BT the Federal Government of Nigeria.

"The government of China should be mindful of the fact that Nigerians irrespective of their political and religious affiliations are totally opposed to increment of the country's dept burden, which is already being serviced with 25 percent of the country's annual budget." He said in a letter dated April 12, 2016, addressed to President Xi Jinping of China.

The letter was delivered by chief of staff to the governor, Barrister Dipo Anisulowo in Abuja on Thursday to the Chinese government through the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Gu Xiaojie.

Governor Fayose said some of the projects for which the loan was being sought were not captured in the controversial 2016 budget, which has been sent to the President by the National Assembly for his assent.
